Built in 1990, the Hotel Mercure Korona is housed in two imposing nine-storey towers, separated by a road but joined by a glass bridge, and is situated one kilometre from Budapest's main shopping area. The 421 guestrooms are decorated in light beige tones and feature contemporary furnishings. All are equipped with high-speed wireless Internet connections, satellite television, VCRs, direct-dial phones, coffee/tea-makers and minibars. Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations, robes, slippers and complimentary toiletries.
Guests can enjoy a dip in the indoor heated pool and then unwind with a sauna or bronze in the solarium. A range of massage treatments are also available. Restaurant Tokaj offers international dishes and Hungarian specialities in a light, contemporary setting and the lobby bar serves a wide range of drinks accompanied by live piano music. Located on the glass bridge connecting the hotel's two buildings, the Bridge Bar serves tapas and business lunches. An airport bus runs to and from the city centre's Erzsébet Square bus station every 30 minutes. From there, metro services run to Kalvin Ter station, which is in front of the hotel. Budapest is served by efficient bus and metro services. The best way to see the surrounding countryside is by car.
